Hell yea man PC gamer for life. I definitely understand your frustration with these really huge maps. In some games the maps are meant to be huge like in the Battlefield and Tribes series. But it definitely seems to me that the devs for MW2 didn't really know were they wanted to go. If you take a look at past CoD games, including MW1 the maps are still small and reminiscent of past/present tactical shooters like vCoD, CS1.6, Urban Terror. I'm interested to hear your take on TF2 and all the unlockable shit valve has added and whether or not you feel it take away from the base gameplay and what team fortress is all about. I only ask because you did mention you were a PC gamer(and an old school one as well) and I have a feeling you're a fan of QWTF/TFC.
Anyways hope you feel better and I'm definitely looking forward to the new UWW.
I like the maps of MW2. The spawn system is tweaked so that you spawn relative to your allies, and that means that there's always a front, and it's always moving throughout the map.
For a new player though, yes - but it's not the fault of the maps, but the people playing the game over and over and over. Playing with people that are too good is not fun :/
What character are you playing in Borderlands? I'd like to play you, but I have the PC version for one, and for two GameSpy is a piece of crap and just does not work, so you have to use Hamachi -_-
Ya it would be interesting to see how he feels about TF2 especially because it's my favorite game right now. Anyway I'm not that old but I do remember CS being fun and I play CSS on a regular basis.
Hey there, glad to hear you're feeling better. I have both Cod: MW2 and Borderlands and love playing both of them on the Xbox 360. If 50 people haven't bombarded you already for your gamertag, feel free to friend me: McNuggets310
You seem to have come up with the same problems that I did when I first started playing MW2. The first thing that I did was just go into a private match and go look through the maps and learn them... Tedious? Sure. Worth it so you don't end up with 23 death streaks? I'm thinking so, yes. When you complained about the people stabbing you in the back, presumably they were Marathon/Lightweight/Tac. knife. The main way I counter them myself is playing the maps myself with the same setup, and figuring out my own route, learning it, and remembering it. I dunno how good your memory is, but since you can remember where to go in all these games on UWW, I'm guessing it's pretty good.
Also, the part when you said you emptied the entire clip into him, but you never shot on his screen, as far as I can tell, it's just lag.
Borderlands is amazing. It may be worth your while to start a new character to fully understand all of the stuff that the game is throwing your way.
Dude, FPS games are plagued with hackers and frankly, hyper obsessed folks that treat playing a game like a job. While you totally had an 'old guy rant' going there I completely know your pain. I opted out of Borderlands this month and decided I would splurge on Mass Effect 2 Collectors Edition—while Borderlands would easily fill that co-op desire of mine I was told essentially it is a FPS Diablo. Is this a good assessment?
A lot of online, console FPS games have terrible netcode, so you'll have experiences where none of your shots hit the target. I use to play Battlefield 2 and CoD3, and that use to happen all the time. One time, I was playing with my clan, and some of us couldn't see or kill some of the other players. Someone would get killed, and it would show up that they killed themselves with a thompson or something.
Roll a fresh level 1 character and take your time to play it solo. Playing any game where you are thrown in to it with friends that rush you through stuff is never fun.
If you've played Diablo II, and any FPS, you should immediately feel at home.
I personally LOVE this game, it's everything I've wanted. So many times I've said to myself " Why does an RPG always have to be orcs and swords and elves and fairies, why can't I just pull out an assault rifle and shoot and watch numbers pop up and gain XP?"
So I finally got my wish. I got the PC version. (A perk on the PC is that you can turn off the black outline effect in the game... if you want to. )
Yo, Lord Kat. I'd be happy to show you around Boarderlands and show you some great tips that will help you stay alive. Because trust me, in the later levels of the game:
my problem with MW and MW2 is that the online has no matchmaking. you, a lowly level 1, will be thrown into a match with a level 50. you stand absolutely no chance against that.
Good luck with the throat man.
And is there anyway a fan could team up with you on borderlands?

Sounds like you might have run into some hackers or cheaters in MW2.
The PC version is just plagued with them.
