Dang, and to think I fought tooth and nail to go... Well, I guess I'll still try next year only to see a few of my favorite bands and meat friends. Sorry to here it was so rough on you. I've only ever been to one BIG convention, and it was the biggest mistake of my like and left me terrified of anime fans for the rest of my life.

Anyway, hope you get over that cold quick, all of your fans are rooting for you (except for the @$$holes that is ;))! Keep on rockin' dude.

Well, it's not exactly like anime fans have ever been an award winning group of people to begin with.

Anyway, wow. That whole convention sounded like an incompetently run, monumental waste of time.

Wow. Being from a foreign country, one would believe a convention of that size would be better organized. Anyway, it's good to see you back! See ya!

Everything you describe sounds like common sense to me in terms of it being fixed.. so it's not like they would be hard fixes. However, it does sound like they need a bit more security and a better 'coat check' method than just a table. Then again, I'm also not sure how much they lean on the whole 'festival' thing as opposed to a convention.. and as you say, it sounds like it works both for and against them.

And.. Holy Diver! Hellz yea! Awesomely impossible game. :)

Interesting to hear your thoughts about Magfest. I would definitely not go there again if I was you.

This makes me feel less sad about missing MagFest...sort of. Derek is a super cool guy simply for writing back to his fans and his show is refreshing. As far as Little Miss Gamer and her puppets, Puppetry is making a big come back in NYC. Go figure.

Sorry the fest screwed you so hard, get some sleep and get up my Wizards and Warriors 2 god damnit!

* Oh, NY style FTW.

I didn't get the impression you were all unwelcome at your panel. The people there seemed to dig it. There was a lot of laughing aside from one stoned faced gentleman. The program didn't say Doug was going to be there so if the attendees expected it then the onus is on them.

The panels were so bad. We walked into one panel to find it was empty, so we started our own GFAX PC-Engine panel.

Oh and in case anyone is curious, Kämpfer is the German word for champion and also possibly the WORST anime to have come out in 2009. Think Ranma but kill the plot and replace all the comedy with yuri fan service.

About the vendors getting bad foot traffic.
My heart goes out to them ,but I wouldn't have put a table up on a free convention. The majority of the people who go to free con don't seem like a profitable demographic.

Dear Lord Kat:

1. Don't leave your stuff unattended where people can take it.

2. By shitting on conventions / guests / vendors, you not only burn bridges with them but their fans, too.

3. Quit being such a whiny dousche. Try and have fun next time.

"Kämpfer is the German word for champion"

Wrong. Kämpfer is the German word for fighter. The German word for champion is ... well, Champion.

Just a little fyi... Yu-Gi-Oh The abridged series is in it's entirety voiced over and written by Little Kuriboh. Masako, Linkara and such are only guests on the show. LK and his YGO series kick ass.

Wow, Magfest sounded like an incredibly annoying waste of time. That bit with the coat check just being a table... that's... I don't even know. That's just laughably terrible.

Hope you feel better soon!

Sorry to hear you had bad time at Magfest, also hope you get rid of that cold soon.

Ive never seen Yugioh either. Just the consept of guys having real serious battles with cards kind of seems lame to me... that just my opinion. Also I never liked Dragonball Z, it was kind of boring after a while, power up after power up... now Dragonball, the original one, thats a whole different story, loved that show as a kid.

"Well, it's not exactly like anime fans have ever been an award winning group of people to begin with."

MAGfest is about music and gaming, not about anime. Just because it is a convention does not mean it is about anime.

Convention =/= anime.

Yup. Uh huh. True.

Aaaaaand I wasn't talking about Magfest when I said that, either. Was I? Nope. I was replying to some other guy's topic about anime at a completly different convention.

Learn to read, next time. Bye, dumbass.

"1. Don't leave your stuff unattended where people can take it."

It's a coat check you stupid fucking numbnut retard. You HAVE to leave it there.

"2. By shitting on conventions / guests / vendors, you not only burn bridges with them but their fans, too."

Who fucking cares? He had a terrible time and his complaints are all valid. How dare he speak his mind honestly about his own experences? HOW DARE HE?? That logic doesn't work. Go fuck yourself.

Besides, he said he wouldn't go back most likely. If he "burned any bridges" he did it consciously, and i' sure he doesn't give a shit either. He has every fucking right to say what he wants.

Are you some kind of convention staff planner watching this who is butt-hurt about your own horrible planning and incompetent running of Magfest? If so, please direct yourself to go fuck yourself, once again.

"3. Quit being such a whiny dousche. Try and have fun next time."

Quit getting butt-hurt over someone else's personal experience like a whiny trolling faggot, yourself. Seriously? That's your advice? "Have fun next time?" Because I guarantee that if the same shit happened to you, you wouldn't be "having fun" yourself, either. You hypocritical fucktard.

Also, try and learn how to spell "douche" next time. It's a word you need to know. I mean, what kind of person can't even spell their own name? Apparently, you.

I was at Magfest too. We played Contra until we died.
I agree about the organization and the panel schedule. Some parts of the schedule are total cluster fuck, and other parts are have nothing for hours.
The staff there just had a total lack of communication, even among the staff. Nobody knew what was going on or when.

The panels that I got to go to were pretty fun. I went to your panel too, and I had a good time.

I wanted to buy that sega 32x / cd console too. But it was missing the video cable. And I was low on money after buying so much other stuff. I got like a ton of NES games.

Your are right about the Star Wars game on the X boxes. It was in fact Star Wars Battle Front 2. I played it for a bit too. Luckily I managed to get a few of the systems working again so my friends and I could play for a bit.

One thing that could have helped you out, is if they played a short Until We Win marathon in the video room. They played Captain S, AVGN, YGO abridged, Press Start.

Overall I had a pretty fun time. It was cool getting to meet all the guests there. I met Lord Kat, Little Miss Gamer, AVGN and Kyle, Captain S, Little Kuriboh. It was fun for a small convention.

Until now, all I've ever heard about MAGFest is praise, love, and perfection. Pretty much everyone who spoke about the convention was positive reception. This is the first time somebody actually did not do a glowing experience and I will take this video as consideration if I could go to MAGFest or not. Not saying that MAGFest or anything.

It helps to bring your own filling, wholesome food to conventions, like sandwiches or something you can heat up in a microwave like soup. When your in those hotel/convention areas, all that's around you is fast food and you can't live on that for up to three days straight. Also make sure to take vitamins, wash your hands, stay away from sugary snacks, sleep well, and be cleanly. Just play it smart and you can keep the convention cold away.

I actually shared a room with 7 other guys too during my last convention. Camped out next to the air conditioner since it was the summer and the noise from it helped drown out the snoring.
