I just found your site a few days ago through TGWTG and have watched all of your Until We Wins. I watch AVGN, Spoony and Critic on a regular basis, and you are now on that list. I think you need to redesign your website altogether, it seems very unprofessional and hard to navigate and just kind of "there". Visit the Cinnemasace AVGN website, it's blog style but in tabs, something like that would work well.
The phone idea is awesome but in practice it may become a problem. I think that if everyone got the number you would get so many messages it would make sorting out the good from the bad very difficult and time consuming. Perhaps you could have a trial run for a few months and give the number to only those registered on your website. Maybe have a few requirements to get the number like post so many comments or something along that line. Requirements will discourage some who would just spam you. Also make sure that your phone can block numbers easily in case someone gets really annoying. Maybe you should ask the users on this website for their numbers and just put those in the phone. Then block all other numbers so you will only receive calls and texts from the members whose numbers are in your phone.
As for the music for UWW you have done many Nintendo and Super Nintendo games so maybe an 8 or 16 bit music number might be appropriate. Just an idea.

I also wanted to say that you shouldn't push yourself too hard. It feels like your dishing out videos non-stop which probably affects your health in some way. Personally I would prefere a new and good well thought out video (like UWW) every other week than getting out lots and lots off them.

It'd probably be an evaluation of wether the visitors to this site can be as willfully random and wastefull of everyone's time as the You Tube dwellers who jumped on the Luke Johnson Phone experiment bandwagon. It probably won't turn into that: the ability to communicate directly assde, there's an undeniable ease to being able to express thoughts at the press of a few button's seconds after watching one of your videos. Also, as a follower of your videos living in Europe, I'm not going to pay extortionate amounts to some unidentifiable sector of whichever corporation takes care of dicking around with international communication for a maximum of 40 letters.What would the point be? Getting you to pay up too because I'd expect an answer?

I think the phone idea is probably a bad one. It's great that you're looking for new ways to communicate with your small-but-growing fan base, but I don't think an 'open phone' is the answer. You'd get such a poor noise [prank calls, worthless texts and voice mail messages] to data ratio that I think you'd hate carrying the thing inside of a week.
It only takes one persistent jerk to ruin something like that for everyone.
As others have mentioned the phone solution is simply not going to scale with any sort of growth in popularity. Maybe text messages and voice mail feedback are good when you have 25 active viewers [those viewers that leave comments, send emails or generally do anything more than watch the video and then leave the site] but it is simply a horrible idea if you have even 100 active viewers and a single person attempting to listen to them all. Perhaps you've thought of using some sort of voice mail to text screening utility to manage responses, but at that point you're really back where you started and it would seem to be a moot point.
It sounds like another reason you're considering this is perhaps so you have a captive audience who must listen to a recorded message before being able to leave you a voice mail - in other words, as a tool to generate income as a result of all of your work.
Wouldn't it be easier to launch a redesigned website and generate revenue based on views? At this point you have proven popularity and I think you may even be able to find fans with technical know-how to help you do such work simply because they like your show.
I recall you stating that, like myself, you are a programmer by trade. I know that doesn't mean you do web design on a professional level, and I think it would be a good idea to aim for a professional appearing site. I love the AVGN but it would not be difficult at all to best that sites design and functionality and there's no reason you shouldn't aim high. You can basically afford to start from a fresh slate since you don't have ridiculous amounts of content already being hosted in a particular format.
Anyway, that is just my lengthy two cents, I hope you feel better shortly and continue to pump out entertaining videos.
I'm all for the phone idea if there's a way to where it won't cost you too much to do it, and also if you could block unwanted calls. You may also want to put a "can call me times" table on the website, so no one calls you at like 6 am
At the top of the site you've got buttons for youtube twitter etc. Fuck that off. Put a giant button "UNTIL WE WIN". Make your primary thing easily accessible and visible.

Remember, you have upwards of 200-500 people viewing a day at LEAST, and that number will have quadrupled if people realize that you are on the TGWTG crew. And as you said, some people "will be dicks," not to mention people calling at all hours. hundreds of people a day calling you; you won't get any peace. And then there's the group of folks that will leave threatening calls. Some people are just sickos.

Nah man, for your own sake do not do the phone thing. If your show gets insanely popular, you'll have thousands of people on that phone. Question is, why would you want to talk to all these people? We like your show, and we'll give you feedback, but at the same time you can't listen to what everyone has to say or take every single suggestion. Comments in text are more than enough, and there's no obligation for you to reply to every one comment. Just reply to the ones you feel the need to, and if you've already replied to a similar comment, let the person who asked for that info look it up if they care so much.
Or, you can always note the more commonly asked/suggested stuff and address then in a single vlog, comment, or what have you.
Also dude, take your time with the vids and don't set hard deadlines for yourself. Look, we aren't none of us paying for this, and if you feel it's an obligation or that it's work, you won't like what you're doing and that will reflect on the quality of the vids. Just do what you gotta do, and release your stuff when you do, and at your own pace. Those who like your vids will keep watching. Hey, these people are addicted to stuff like this. Love the phone idea. Problem is constant spam, and prank calls. Still quite a unique idea. If done right it could be a great twist.
