Good review. I've been out of the loop for a while and didn't watch or see any reviews before I saw it. All I knew was it was supposed to be a good movie. Your right that it's no Blade Runner, but I do think it is the best Hollywood movie we've had in quite a while.

It's now been almost eight months to the day since "Avatar" came out and everywhere I go, to this very day, I cannot escape the whining about it. It's impossible to get A SINGLE MOMENT'S PEACE, especially on the internet. My favorite reviewers are no different. Unrelated "Video Game Confessions" sketch by Doug Walker? Of COURSE there's an uncharacteristically weak and easy to see coming a galaxy away joke ribbing "Avatar". Linkara reviews a frickin' CALIFORNIA RAISINS COMIC? Yep, another "Avatar" bashing in the mix. LordKat reviews a film about people on Earth hooking up and committing crimes in their dreams? Not only do the people in the chat almost IMMEDIATELY jump to "Avatar"-bashing, but LordKat himself eventually joins in too. I can't go anywhere now to avoid it. When will it end? When will the nerdrages and totally unnessary (and usually straw man argument-based) attacks on the people who liked the film stop? Will it EVER end??? Even if it WAS that bad a film, I can't fathom even "North" or "Manos: The Hands of Fate" being worth eight months of incessant, universal bitching in every corner of the internet. Its silliness is as unprecedented as its inescapable prevalence. It's been not far from a year now. Let it go. IT'S JUST A MOVIE.
