First! :P Sry but w/e right? Anways good review but could you give us some clue where to play this game like a link to a emulator DL or flash game. I am aware that this might cause some problems but in the end most people dont own these games that you make UWW for which is sad cause i'd like to try to beat some of these classic games that i didnt grow up with. As of current, ive only manage to get to battletoads and super castlevania IV(Havent beated the first level in CV IV and got killed in the wookie hole in battletoads). Also what did you hit in the end?
So after being nearly rendered unconscious by boredom, I check my Twitter and lo and behold, a new UWW. My literal reaction was "Oh, thank god!"
Well blip tv isnt working for me in general. I mean a few videos, and by a few I mean maybe one per page, load but for the most part it runs the add and then nothing. Or it runs the add, nothing, then runs more adds. I don't know what I did but this is really starting to piss me off.
I think I got up to level 3 as a kid. Great game, never beat it though.
Sad that you didn't mention the music :(
It's probably the best soundtrack on the whole NES.
Thanks a LOT for doing that one Jason :) your fans where so wanting it !!
"Anyone in the mood for pizza?" Is that a hint at the next game? ;)
I'm thinking Yo Noid!
Another great one, keep it up Lordkat.
p.s. I don't know why but I loved the ending it was so... casual, like you had just been telling me a story and now we were going to get some pizza and play some Co-op.
If you want to try playing this, head to:
It's got a lot of these old NES games, though not all of them.
to anyone who didn't pay attention: I'm pretty sure by "anyone in the mood for pizza" he was giving us a hint to next weeks UWW...
now this, to me, could mean 2 things: TMNT or Yo Noid. I'm pretty sure next week will be Domino's Yo Noid.
Ok I haven't offically finished the video....But that number in the corner? It is a telephone number....And I just need to know why it is there....And I hope it's not urs because if it is I am sorry I pointed this out and ur going to get a lot of calls/texts.
Also fun video to watch!
its a voicemail/sms number which you can send it to him whatever you wanna know or is wondering about.
Thank you!
man I thank you for showing me the ending....I swear I would stay up all day and night just trying to beat the last boss....but was never able to....that stupid ship it would throw me off my focus and the android would kill me because I would put down the controller to get a drink because I thought I beat the last boss....and that would happen every time because I would forget the "Real" last boss was the android....
God damn, I forgot how kickin' the soundtrack to this game was.
Forget pizza Jason, go get one of those Baconators from Wendy's and videotape yourself opening it and taking a bite! THAT would be epic!!!! =) I love your videos, keep up the good work my man.
Jason,
Please play Fester's Quest and Ninja Gaiden 1-3
Will watch the video later.
looking forward to Yo Noid! Assuming that's the one.
Keep up the good work
Maybe it's the Samurai Pizza Cats video game. /cry Teh wiki
But, Yo Noid! was a difficult game from what I can barely recall. So it's more probable.
hey lordkat i dare you to beat one of these games castlevania castlevania 2 simons quest castlevania 3 ninja gaiden ninja gaiden 2 ninja gaiden 3 if you beat one of those then your he nes god!!!! love your vids keep up the good work
Cool Video. Great Review. The Pizza I think may be another game we may not be thinking of. I do have a challenge for LordKat. Sega Genesis Sunsoft Superman. A few other suggestions I also have Maxiam Carnage on Super Nes, And to finish what I would consider a trilogy. Captain Planet on the Nes. Before anyone ask. Nostalgia Critic did the cartoon and Linkara did the comic.
"You are going to _jump_ ... a lot."
Really funny :D
I wish people would stop calling Jason a "gaming god". Sure I appreciate his effort in making these videos for us, but seriously he is not a "gaming god". Anyone with enough time and effort can do what he does. If you spent enough time with a rom, an emulator, and SAVE STATES, you too could beat these games.
Give him a cart and a real console and I am sure he will only be as good as the next guy. He is only giving us the strategy needed to beat these games. There are much better players out there, and while Jason is decent he is far from the greatest.
Keep the videos coming Jason! Looking forward to what I assume is Yo! Noid.
I really like these... Sort of a mix between a review and a Let's Play. More easy on the time and bandwidth than the latter but more interesting than the former. Keep up the good stuff man!
-Shinkada.
Do Ninja Gaiden
Hurray! You did it ;D
Are you going to beat games on other consoles? It will be interesting if you dp Mohawk and Headphone Jack on the snes :D
Greetings from Switzerland.
A couple of game suggestions:
NES: Solstice
Sega Genesis: Shadow of the Beast
MAME: 720 (degrees)
" Anyone with enough time and effort can do what he does. If you spent enough time with a rom, an emulator, and SAVE STATES, you too could beat these games.

Ummm.... Even if he's using an emulator the rules of Until We Win are no codes, no cheats, and no save states. Though even he says he's not awesome at games, just that he's dedicated or something like that. I remember it from a past video log.
"As of current, ive only manage to get to battletoads and super castlevania IV(Havent beated the first level in CV IV...."
What part of the level are you having trouble with, Mercuri? If it's Rowdain, what you need to do is first viciously whip at the skeleton horse's head, catching the fireballs that come out of it and doing damage to the horse at the same time, until it is dead, and then whip just as aggressively at Rowdain himself before he can mount a real offensive. After he explodes into bones he'll reform again for a suprise attack, but he'll go down with one more hit if you're quick. I don't recommend using subweapons on him--in fact, most bosses in the game are best handled with a fully powered whip--but you could try spamming daggers. If it's the upper corridor of medusa heads before Rowdain you can't get past, try walking across the trick platforms without jumping and dodging the heads by walking back and forth out of their way. Alternately, you could just brandish your whip at them when they get near. Here, this video isn't mine but I think its strategy is pretty solid, it may help you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rxkq402gYEo
It's pretty obvious that Jason uses save states, despite the fact that he says he doesn't. I mean, the dragon's lair video basically showed it when his life counter pretty much never goes down.
Didn't lose a single life in the entire dragon's lair game... A game with no continues? And he's beating these games within 1-2 weeks? Seriously... nobody is that good.
The ending to Journey to Silius may not be as grand as the ending to Terminator the film, but it sure as hell is miles above the ending to the official Terminator NES game! (In fact, Journey to Silius is vastly superior in every aspect to that... that... fucking abomination!)
That is indeed a thinly veiled request to review the official Terminator NES game. For one thing, the Nerd stopped reviewing it before you get to 1984, and that's when the game gets REALLY bad! Why? Well, you won't have a gun of any kind outside of the broken driving stages! Instead, you get to throw useless found items like baseballs!!! (So, basically no real chances to gain extra lives.) Then there are the aforementioned broken driving stages, the police station stage where you can't tell which of the two wings you're in, and if you want to see a weak ass ending to a hard as nails game, picture this: a horrendous 8-bit rendition of Linda Hamilton's face thanking you!
I requested this and- vwa la!- you did it the next video. Thank you!
If you take other requests, strongly consider these:
-Bubble Bobble (NES)
-Heroes of the Lance (Master System)
-Pinball Quest [Quest Mode] (NES)
-Ninja Gaiden Black (XBOX)
-Ninja Gaiden II (XBOX 360)
-Batman Returns (SNES)
Jason, are you changing the bitrates or something on your videos? This and the What the hell? video both lag with the video and aren't loading smoothly. I know I'm on a crappy netbook with an equally crappy graphics card but up until this point, I've had no problems loading or watching your videos smoothly and lag free (OSx86 helps with that). I can still click on Who Framed Roger Rabbit and it works perfectly fine. Same results when I try to watch it at TGWTG.com and directly at your blip account as when I try here. If you're tying to go for higher quality, then I'll just have to boot up my other computer to watch your videos. I'm just curious if this is intentional or accidental.
EDIT:
Got the video running smooth. Upgrading to Flash 10 fixed it. Definitely a "DUH!" solution, but that kind of thing is interesting to know. Makes me wonder if that has an effect on mobile devices like the Nokia N900 which still uses Flash 9.

How many times is he--and are we--going to have to explain that to you people before you lay off with those same old same old accusations??!! Pay attention to the whole video next time.
EDIT:
Moved my comment with my original post.
Ninja Gaiden II xbox360 on hard. i dare you
"How many times is he--and are we--going to have to explain that to you people before you lay off with those same old same old accusations??!! Pay attention to the whole video next time."
Look, there's just no way you can beat all these difficult games in such a short time period without save stating or being a total gaming god. Seriously, the harder games Jason played wouldn't be infamous for their difficulty if an average dude can practice and beat them in 1-2 weeks.
I'm not saying the videos aren't entertaining to watch. I'm just saying that it's obvious that save states are being employed in at least some of the games. I can buy that you can beat Iron sword or Roger Rabbit in 1-2 weeks with enough persistence. Totally believable. Dragon's lair, battletoads and silver surfer... Those are really, really hard to swallow.
To the guy above me, first, since you staunchly refuse to watch the whole video like I said, the reason he was using save states *to get the footage* for that video, and *only* in the footage-getting stage, is because the crappy program he was using ate the footage he initially recorded when he was going through the game originally. He said this at the end of the video and again in one of his video logs. Second, about the "weekly game beating" allegation, he doesn't work on only one game at a time! Just because these episodes come out more or less weekly doesn't mean that it takes him only a week to beat each game, although I believe he said that some of the easier ones like Deadly Towers took him only a couple of days. But he also said that it took him about a month apiece of constant daily attempts to beat Chakan, Battletoads, and Silver Surfer, and that he's been working on Bloodwings: Pumpkinhead's Revenge for I don't know how long now. Think! You're like those closed-minded people on Spoony's site who refused to accept that there was no cheating involved when Spoony posted the Speed Demo Archives video of the guy beating Bayou Billy without losing any lives. Some people just can't squeeze it through their narrow little minds that there are people out there who can make greater accomplishments in gaming than they have. Now, with that said, I have a request for Jason. I'm the guy who ordinarily requests Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, but I'm willing to lay off for the time being, because as of late I've been getting heavily into Mike Tyson's Punch-Out/Punch Out Featuring Mr. Dream. It's become my favorite video game in the whole world and it's most certainly hard enough for an "Until We Win", so do you think you could do an episode on that? I know I'm not by any means the only person ever to request it and it should be a blast to work on.
Heya Jason. I'm a long time fan who has been wanting to see this game beaten for ages. I never made it past the last stage and I can't recount how many hours I've spent trying to beat this mean MOFO of a game. Nice to finally see the ending credits!
I remember another game I had a real hard time beating when I was younger; "Rad gravity". I remember you were some dude with a light saber and a gun traveling to different planets in search of a computer or something. Don't remember much mroe about that game other than that I really did enjoy playing it, I just never managed to finnish it(Though I do have some scattered memmory fragments of jumping on bubbles, flying upside down sharks, running from a green foot and a dog). Would be nice to see someone play that bastard through.
lol Android. That was obviously the Terminator at the end. Funny for a whole game supposed to be based on it strange he would not be in it until the end. But then other movie games did stuff like that.
Just thought I'd chip in here, about the not being able to do it in two weeks. I for one have been inspired by UWW and really made it "Until WE Win" and been playing harder games lately, picking them up and trying to accomplish what he does. Now, I've not been flawless, but I have defeated some really hard games (aka the Castlevania trilogy, Ninja Gaiden 1 & 2, TMNT) on the actual NES. Now, honestly enough with about one attempt per night, I can make it in two to three weeks (working on Blaster Master now, and I've gotten to the last stage within four nights given the UWW video help). So, if is possible to do in a two week time frame. But lets remember that on top of this, I've been playing some of these like Ninja Gaiden for years. Thus, I really just needed work on the last couple of levels/bosses.
Last point (whew...sorry for the long message). I would include Silver Surfer on the list but I did use one save state...once to give the "space lobster" (funny comment in the video Jason) a second try to see his pattern. Just so that I'm honest :D
how bout kid cameleon
"how bout kid cameleon" No way. The only reason *that* game's hard is because it's so unspeakably long. He would have to do a five-parter or something. He's swamped enough as it is. I still say Punch-Out.
Do blaster master 2 for the sega genesis. That game was a real pain. I haven't seen any videos of anyone going through this game on the net. Would like to see it.
