Sorry, I had to remove the music from the render as kdenlive is uttery worthless. I might fix it later. Too tired right now.

Update: I added the music back in. Enjoy!

I just watched the video from the main page and came here to ask where the hell the music was. That answers that. Good video as usual though.

Yeah I had major problems with kdenlive. I might upload another version tomorrow, but I don't know, I'm really tired right now.

I know there are dead spots in the sound here and there. The problem is that the script and the video were impossible to mesh up in kdenlive. I was going to give step by step directions to each area, since they're basically hidden, but kdenlive didn't want to place nice with my freeze-frame and dissolve effects - it constantly crashed.

So, I ended up cutting out the step by step directions and going with this. It's a significantly worse product because of it, but I really didn't have the time or desire to fix it (which would require me making a video of the exact directions in the script, as opposed to piecing it together in on montage).

Overall, I'm very unhappy with this episode. It could have (and should have) been better, but a combination of time and poor tools made it a bad presentation.

It sounds like you spend most of your energy struggling with your tools - I've never experimented with video editing but I have to guess there must be some decent software available on *nix that can do a better job for you than this kdenlive.

Also, I think you're probably being harder on yourself than you need to, the video is pretty watchable. I do think you should go back and fix the music though. Some of those silent stretches must have been nearly a minute long and that just felt like an eternity.

Great video as always.
One question though, I've seen that several times you've said that you had to struggle a bit with kdenlive and i was wondering why you dont give Sony Vegas a try. I personally use Vegas for the videos i make and edit ever since i first started using it. If i'm not mistaken since you are using Linux, you should be able to use Vegas with Wine if they have not released a Linux version of it.

don't beat yourself up now. i liked the video. yes it could have had a better presentation but things happen and everyone knows that and I don't think less of you or UWW because of that. we are all here to listen to you and see you beat some hard video games. I still enjoyed it a great a deal and can't wait for the next UWW. personally i think what you are doing with UWW is on par, if not better than the AVGN and NC. keep plugging away and we are all behind you. i would completely understand if UWW gets delayed a few days to make it the way you want it. keep up the good work

you were my inspiration to dabble with linux but the difficulty I hear you have with kdenlive and my issues tryin to to get multimonitor supprt inspired me to leave my ubuntu install collecting dust!

i would believe you have checked this out already but in case you haven't I found this site offering the top 10 free video editors for linux...

keep 'er lit man, don't let your tools get you down! \m/

If you decide to re-upload the video you need to make at least SOME commentary on level 8, it's just a big patch of silence while we watch you disjointedly go through parts of it. Level 8 is certainly one of the hardest parts in the game with many traps and dangerous areas that you should help guide the viewer through, I thought that was the point of the series no?

That music at the end... You are going to play... Dragon's Lair on the NES!!! Good luck, if you get to Lizard King level.

Im guessing the music at the end was a clue to what the next UWW is. Damn it... Anyone know what it is going to be?

Oh, so its dragon lair... ughh... I seen a guy beat it on you tube. Its a fucking nightmare.

This is a good UWW, but one grip, Blaster Master dose have continues, just no 1-ups at all (I got lost in the 2nd area when I was a kid so)

Glad to see you're finally going to do ADOM, LordKat.

You should really do something with those awkward silences. Talking about something or commenting on what's going on on the screen cause, I might be wrong, but generally it's very irritating. Otherwise great videos! It'd be really great if you started doing PSX games.

Great UWW as always. May I suggest you review Dick Tracy on the NES? Again, another reference to AVGN, but it always bugged me that he was never able to complete the first stage of this game, and I've always been curious (but never curious and masochistic enough to play it myself) to see what the later levels are like. It definitely seems like a game that would put up a challenge for you to beat.

You should make a T-shirt that just says on the front:

"You're going to die....
A lot"

with "until we win" at the back of it near the collar

Would be sweet =P

Hei LordKat.
Wanna play a hard game?
I seem to remember a old NES game that i never ever could beat.
The name of the Game. Robo Warrior. Check it out.

And now Blaster Master is on the Wii marketplace, quite the coincidence. Awesome stuff! =D

Hmm, I would like you to play shatterhand but it might not be hard enough. The gameplay itself is challenging but it has unlimited continues, so I don't think it'll cut the mustard. Too bad. It's a good game too.

Might I suggest you try and tackle Jurassic Park for the Super Nintendo?
I know it's frustratingly hard, has no savepoints, is fricking huge, has no map and doesn't tell you where to go at all. Damn, I hated that game!

This was among the first games I had on the NES (next to Bionic Commando and 1942 . . . yeah, I had hard games for my first ones.) I seem to recall Blaster Master having continues. LIMITED continues . . .

I also recall getting it and getting stuck at the third boss. Then the fifth boss. Then the eighth level. I didn't beat it until I was wasting time while between college semesters. At the time, there really wasn't any hints out there for the game except in unofficial guides which failed to give detailed answers. No GameFAQs, and I had zero clue how to hook into a BBS or Usenet (so there might have BEEN something but . . .)

And yet this is not the game which took me the longest time to finally beat legit (no savestates) . . . that honor belongs to X-Com.

Anybody notice the Metroid look alikes in the game. I swear one of the enemies IS a Metroid. That statue, looked just like a Chozo. A couple of the levels looked like levels from Metroid. Is that just a coincidence?

Well it was pretty funny to hear you talking about the great music when in fact, there is no music at all - I mean lol.. I'll probably laugh for some time even when I'll cook a meal with the lodge cast iron pan that is pretty good but it won't be as entertaining as watching the videos here.

After watching the video here I just couldn't help but play Blaster Master. Now, I'm still far from being winning it but I hope that as soon as I'll store my large electric griddle I would get the opportunity to finally win Blaster Master, and I definitely ain't going to give up anytime soon.
