The farthest I got without cheating was stage 9 or so. As for the boss at stage 7, I usually take out the guy with the gun first, then go after the dude with the knife because the former can damage you more easily.

have you tried blaster master, blaster master 2 (genesis) or 7th saga? blaster master 2 is very hard.

Hard game, nice ending. Bayou Billy was the exception of the rule when it came to crappy hard games with crappy endings that were just not worth the headaches you had to go through.
