My Thoughts on Spore

If you're interested, I wrote an extensive Spore review. TL;DR, here's the rundown:

  1. DRM sucks ASS. 3 installs. Uninstalls don't count. 4th one by begging EA. 5th one needs a new license.
  2. SecuROM sucks my balls and if I ever meet the people who own that company I will personally end their lives by force feeding them my feces till they're fucking dead.
  3. Gameplay is shit. Camera in space is shit. Battles are shit.
  4. Missions are boring as hell: scan all life on a planet, kill 5 infected creatures, or trade something to someone.
  5. How you modify your creature has no real effect on gameplay.
  6. Three realistic paths to take (diplomat, industry, or war). 81 if you like to mix and match abilities.

What a piece of shit. Oh yeah, the DRM doesn't affect me, I downloaded my shit from Demonoid. Fuck you, EA.

God what a souless middle management nightmare it must be to work at EA. They're so paranoid about piracy that you get 3 installs of the game. That's it, 3 installations. Uninstallations don't credit you with another install. Begging with EA support only adds one install. And, fuck SecuROM.

So, basically, if your computer gets fried, you're fucked. If EA's DRM authentication servers go down, you're fucked. If you want to install Spore on your little sister's computer, but you've already reinstalled it twice because Windows is a horrible piece of shit, you're fucked.

What's even worse is that the fucking game was leaked and cracked two weeks ahead of Spores release! At that point, what is the fucking purpose of DRM?! The only other purpose is to force players to buy more licenses.

I swear, nobody at EA has a fucking soul. They're simply bean counters maximizing their profit margins.

Indeed, I'd still like to try the game out even if it sounds as if they didn't implement a great idea very well. I hate the copy crap they use now. :|
