Lordkat, I am running windows vista 32 bit ultimate edition and I'm having a problem with my windows updater (hard to believe, right?). The Updater will install anything EXCEPT a crucial part; the security update. Do you know any way to fix this issue; and to help you narrow it down: all of my drivers are up to date and I've tried to find the updates on Microsoft's site but the updates do not exist there.

If it was the update I think
If it was the update I think it is, It's not a real update, and that's why it's not installing. My last laptop had vista 32bit, and there was always that one update what would download, but fail to install because it didn't pass Authentication (I forgot the error code for that, took me a week of looking things up to figure it out.)
Turns out that one "critical security update" was actually NOT a windows update. try looking up the error code to see if it's an update authentication error. If it is an authentication error, just hide the update, because it will never install, and most likely is not actually an update. If it's not an update authentication error, then try posting the error so that the problem can be narrowed down further.
