Table-Top Show Topic Suggestion

Hi,

I have a topic suggestion for the Table Top Show:

"German Board Games";

not necessarily german, but the style.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_board_games

It has it's own wiki page so you know I didn't make it up.

I'm talking about games like "Settlers of Catan", "Agricola"...

Games where the goal is NOT eliminating other players but rather winning through victory points/ reaching a certain stage in the game.

In some, you co-operate, and in others you co-exist.
Some player interaction is possible, but mostly restrained to player harassment, slowing them down and inconveniencing them to give you the advantage.

There still is a certain level of competition in these as you fight against other players on a different level; e.g. finite building space in "Settlers of Catan" or rare ressources in "Agricola"...

So games where everyone remains in, no disqualification and everyone is able to enjoy it to the end, contrary to classic "PvP" games like "Risk".

Another Topic:

"Deck Building Game"

(does not yet have it's own wiki page..)

Well-Known examples are:

"Dominion" ; "Thunderstone"; "Ascension"; "Nightfall"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominion_%28card_game%29

These are card games where you start out with a handful of starter cards and use them to buy/capture new cards from an assorted pile to improve your deck according to your strategy, upgrade existing cards, and remove less useful ones.

This genre has turned out to be quite popular and seems like the newest trend and games working this formula are selling like hotcakes.

Again, many of these go along the lines of "German board games"; playing along others rather than heads-on against others.

I am more than willing to give you a longer, more detailed explanation as this is just a quick summary and/or assist you in any way, just post either here or contact me directly under "vogerl@live.at"

Everyone else is invited to comment about these choices, add in if they have any personal experience with these genres and their opinions of them.

Cu, vogerl(/_Birdy)
