Thursday Twitchtv.com Q&A session! (One off)

Alright everybody, LK is hosting a Q&A session with Jacob and Emmet. (Both guys behind JTV, Emmet is a co-founder, think Jacob might be too, not entirely sure).

The Q&A will take place on the 30th of June at 8pm Eastern (LordKaT time, just look at clock on the stream to see it and do an easy time comparison)

Anyways, here is where you will place any questions you have for them, and to start the questions off, I will place my own!

What do you intend to do with twitchtv? Clearly it's only for gamers but surely you must be intending some new direction or some such for the site if you're going to go to the trouble of making a new site?

Any particular reason for the split off?

About partnership with JustinTV/TwitchTV aka "getting paid"

Is there going to be eventually a similiar advertivesement revenue system ala BlitTV-style for "normal users"?

In other words, in future would anyone who broadcast have a possibility to gain advertivesement revenue by setting up more or less popular broadcast and get paid that way?

Currently, Justin TV is a

Currently, Justin TV is a well known name in the game-streaming community and moving everyone to a new site with a new name obviously comes with it's fair share of risks. What are you going to do to get Twitch TV out there and ensure this change will not lead to a drop in viewers, which could be very unpleasant to those that make a living off of streaming, such as Lordkat. Additionally, since this new site is aimed specifically at gamers, will this separate site allow itself to expand at a faster pace than if the game streams were still featured on Justin.tv

Secondly, with the many hacks that have occurred over these last few weeks, can you tell us the measures you are taking to keep our accounts with potential personal information safe.

And last but not least: Is this seperate site going to lead to better performance on streams themselves? I've noted quite often that my 20Mbit internet connection can't keep up with many of the Justin.TV streams, especially when the view count goes up. Whether or not this is caused to to my location (Netherlands), is performance going to increase?

Thanks for you're time and good luck with the new website!

About Twitch TV

So I have just wondered about this since Justin TV and Twitch TV is the same guys. Is this split of Justin TV and Twitch TV a way to help ease the database or systems that runs the sites since Justin TV had technical difficulties?

If this question is answered, I'll really appreciate it and maybe this split might make it a way where everyone feels comfortable about it.

With the addition of

With the addition of TwitchTV, how are you going to protect your Streamers from being banned over a issues with publishers jumping in an issuing bans over streaming their games after release? An example would be the debacle between Lordkat and Rockstar over LA Noire. While I understand the JTV side of things trying to keep a good working relationship with publishers, but at what point do they come before your userbase?

What's with all the *$(@ing Starcraft Streams?

Have you ever considered removing the automattic link system when you click anywhere on the stream and maybe just having when you click on the logo or the view count?

As somebody who connects to

As somebody who connects to the JTV chat through IRC (a process that is convoluted enough as it is), I have a couple of questions:

1 After the move to TwitchTV is complete, will clients have to be reconfigured for gaming streams or will the typical jtvirc.com servers still work?

2. I've noticed lately that I'm no longer receiving notifications for when people are banned (I just see timeouts). Is this a bug caused by recent twitch-related updates, or is this "feature" planned to stay?

Also, a bit of positive feedback: I heard in a previous Q&A session that you did not have plans to bring the Meebo bar to TwitchTV. THANK YOU. That rollover ad was just unforgivable.

Highlighting on TwitchTV

At the moment the highlight feature is not available on TwitchTV. When I wish to highlight something from LordKat's stream I therefore have to do it via JTV, which can be awkward at times when JTV tries to automatically redirect me back to TwitchTV. Are you planning on implanting the highlighting feature on TwitchTV, and if so, when can we expect the feature to be made available to us? Thanks

More "topic specific" stream sites?

Personally I visit JTV just for gaming streams so I don't how big of a "chunk" of actual streams gaming is. Nevertheless will you be creating other sites similar to Twitch.tv that will be focused on "specific" streams? Like news streams, Maybe artist streams etc.

So Im always on the go but

So Im always on the go but like watching the odd Youtube video and such on my phone. I'd like watching some videos from JTV users and highlights, but it's not exactly been the most mobile-friendly system. Are there ways in TwitchTV that make it more acceptable for users on a phone in ways like downloading or is it still mostly for computers?

Twitch q&a

Hello Lordkat and JTV admins. I have only one question. What is the main longterm goal regarding the separation of gaming streams from the rest? Thx Lordkat and Jtv for answering our questions.

Hi crew, I have often looked

Hi crew, I have often looked at your various different channels, aside from LK's and TotalBiscuits, and I keep noticing alot of TV streams, show streams and various other bad streams, they come up quite often but aren't really removed until weeks/months after they've started.

Do you have any plans to improve combating these channels and what steps are you currently taking?

Bill S.978

Hello there, if you don't already know. There is a bill that is under evaluation in congress that is trying to make ANY copyrighted content of video games. No trailers, no LP's and no streams. Thoughts?
