Manga Suggestion Thread

Every few weeks Nik and myself will attempt to expand our horizons by picking up a new manga to read. Consider this like a book club almost as we'll both pick up the manga, and discuss our thoughts on it live on Weekly Manga Recap.

There are a few requirements to what manga we'll read at the moment.

1. It must be a manga neither Nik or myself have already read.
2. It must be an easily accessible manga, so when you suggest it please also provide a link to where it can be read.
3. Tentatively we'll say no porn titles. Ecchii is fine, as are all other genres.

Other than that, feel free to suggest your favorite, or perhaps a title that has you curious and follow along with us!

BLAME!

BLAME! http://www.mangafox.com/manga/blame/

mature, science fiction, dystopian future. this manga doesn't explain itself very much, and rather than be annoying because of it (to me at least) it makes the setting super interesting. i actually spent a lot of time trying to work out the universe in my mind, rather than just moving on to some other crap. might be fun to talk about, since there's lots to discuss. (don't ever read the prequel series. it really ruins a lot of the mythos)

also maybe you should review zetman. not because it's a great series, but just to spark some interest in it so maybe some translators will actually release new chapters

How about instead of reading full series, you should try reading some one-shots. It will save a lot of time and there are some very good one-shots out there that can perk up some discussion on your podcast.

List

Could you possible list all the manga you guys read?
I understand that it is difficult to remember all of them but it would be easier to suggest a series.

The two series i would REALLY suggest are both pretty recent so they dont have a lot of chapters to read. They are two of the newest series' in WSJ.

The first is Engima with 30ish chapters. It a psychological series about a bunch of kids trapped in a school that have to escape. WITH MAGICAL POWERS! Fun Fact: Aoki from Bakuman is semibased on the mangaka of this series.
http://www.mangareader.net/enigma

The second is Magico which only has 10 chapters so far and started like 3 months ago. It a simple battle series about a guy trying to remove a demon from a girl using this really long ritual. The series is fairly new however it does twist some shounen cliches.
http://www.mangareader.net/magico

This series is much more "if you can, you should read it" and that is Gintama. Dont get me wrong, Gintama is AMAZING however it is 350+ chapters with many recent chapters and a couple of older ones not being scanlated yet. but some scan groups are working hard on catching up. Its basically the predecessor of Beelzebub. Hell, the mangaka of Beelzebub was an assistant on this series for a time. its basically a gag series with much more arcs of comedy than most. It does have one shot joke chapters but most of the time its 3 chapter long parodies or ideas that are shown. It is fucking hysterically funny and makes tons of references and homages to dozens and dozens of shounen series by either parodying them (IE The characters get Stands and fight each other) or making really deep references to them (IE having a fake timeskip a week after OPs timeskip). However, it does reference some Japanese culture once and awhile however its very superficial and contextual. you can probably make out what they are trying to say based on whats going on. (IE they are talking about an ugly character and compare them to a Japanese actor). Finally, it does have some serious arcs and this is really the dividing force. Some people really like them while others see them as a disruption to the comedy. So its really a matter of choice
http://www.mangareader.net/307/gintama.html

Finally, these series' is more like if you want to read some ridiculously bad manga.

Akumetsu

It's an Adult Manga with a lot of action and some fantasy in it.
The main-plot revolves around the japanese goverment / moneyhoushold which may sounds dry but is a really great Manga I enjoyied reading.
It's a finished Series with 162 Chapters.

Soul Eater
http://www.mangareader.net/157/soul-eater.html
A (maybe?) shounen Manga about people called Weapons and Meister.
The first 3-4 Chapters may have a bit too much fanservice but after that it gets better and better.
It has a really destinctive art style and it's plot is really well done.
Still going on with 1 Chapter per Month.
PS: Fuck the second Season of its anime :<

My Suggestion for what it's worth

Drifters by Hirano Kouta (of Hellsing fame). In it real people of the past are sent to a different plane of existence were elves, dwarfs, and other fantasy setting creatures are real. It's a monthly manga so I know it may not be what you want, but it's new and I figured it might actually be something I've read that you haven't.

Where to read it.

Aphorism:
About very special school in the sky, that our protagonist decides to get in. At first class, they are asked to write down a thing that they would want to fight with. Some write weapons, some write metaphores, our protagonist writes transform. Next schoolyard is full of monsters and only advice is: You will bet your life and fight.

My manga suggestions

One of my suggestions is The World God Only Knows. It is a manga about a dating sim obsessed boy that is called the "Capturing God" makes an accidental deal with the Devil. He made an agreement to capture escaped souls that inhabit the cracks in girls hearts. The only problem besides that Keima is forced with a demon named Elsie to fill the holes in girls hearts, he hates girls in the real world. It is a pretty good manga that I enjoy reading often.
http://www.mangareader.net/120/the-world-god-only-knows.html

My other suggestion is GE-Good Ending. It is a manga about a boy named Utsumi who is forced by a new girl named Yuki to join the tennis club so that Utsumi can confess his love for the captain of the club. It is a really good story that takes you through his life as a high school student and all the ups and downs that come his way. It is one of my personal favorite manga.

I'm going to suggest Deadman

I'm going to suggest Deadman Wonderland. The whole plot of the series starts when 14 year old Ganta Igarashi is convicted of murdering his entire class after a mysterious "Red Man" brutally kills them. Ganta is sent to a privatized prison, the titular Deadman Wonderland, where prisoners put on, often deadly, displays for the general public. Ganta quickly learns he needs to be careful who he trusts as DW proves to be a very cutthroat place. Soon Ganta learns more about the "Red Man" and the more supernatural side of Deadman Wonderland. The series is an interesting blend of supernatural elements and psychological elements that I haven't seen much in Shonen Manga. It's been running since '07, has 45 chapters and currently runs in Shonen Ace.

I definitely recommend checking it out.

Majin Tantei Nōgami Neuro is the best detective manga I've read, and likely one of the best put together mangas I've read. It's SO over the top. It's somewhat gory (not Franken Fran level, though), but it has humor, never the less.

Sora no Otoshimono http://www.mangareader.net/745/sora-no-otoshimono.html

Fantastic, light-hearted action/comedy. It is however released monthly, and it only just reached its 50th chapter. Starts off really cliche, normal guy gets a "magical" girl to fall into his lap out of space. They play it off to maximum hilarity. Has some of the greatest reaction images I've seen in a manga.

Hey Rollo! It's you're

Hey Rollo! It's you're favorite Tinglenator here :D

Seeing as you are doing a weekly manga recap thing going on now, I thought i might get you're intake on manga's that u might not have read yet. I do see the first rule is that something you have to already have read, but id more or less get you're intake into these manga's and get you're opinion on them.

1. 1/2 Prince. This is not actually a manga but a manhua, which are basically Chinese version's of manga's. This one is interesting as it goes on about being inside an MMORPG. This has been done before by certain games and anime's, the biggest case being the .//hack series, but this one is what i consider the best one of, if not, the best one that is currently out. (The other one I will also post on here) This contains it's fair share of comedy in it but mixes well into the combat that takes place. Definitely a must read. Only bad thing about this manga, is that it now comes out, from what I have been told, only twice a year now which is a shame.

Anyways for a quick synopsis of this one: Feng Lan is a 19 year old college girl who one day get's challenged by her twin brother Feng Yang Ming to play a new MMORPG called "Second Life", trust me this one looks much more bad ass. So as she login's in to make her character for the first time she get's a special exception for being the world's first member to join and is able to change her character into a male, thus giving the name of the book 1/2 prince. There are a few issues up in this point, possibly in the translation that I have read, that basically contradict some of the things that happen in this manga, but I never bothered to bother on it that much.

Here is the link: http://www.mangareader.net/278/12-prince.html

2. Yureka (aka ID_eNTITY in North America). This is a manhwa manga, which is basically just a Korean version of manga. This one is another one that takes place in an MMORPG and probably one of the best ones, along with 1/2 Prince. It's a fairly unique manga for the fact that the main characters are not exactly newbies and weak starting characters, like you would see in other manga's like .//hack and 1/2 prince.

Synopsis: This story focuses more on 3 main characters, Roto a swordsman, Boromid a cleric and Al-Dol a monk(or force master as they call it) as they try to become the strongest characters in the game called "Lost Saga" and are a part of a team they call "Team Triple Threat". While playing Lost Saga something happens to Roto as he logs in on a different character, which technically should not be able to happen. After being able to log back into his normal character, he runs into the same character that he was just playing as previously before, and he tries to figure out the mystery of the character he named her "Yureka"

Three manga suggestions, just in case

1. Gunslinger Girl: The tragic tale about little girls in Italy, turned into cyborgs to kill for the Government.
http://www.mangafox.com/manga/gunslinger_girl/

2. Gunsmith Cats: Two girls in Chicago working as bounty hunters. Guns, cars, and action.

3. Battle Royale: The manga adaptation of the book, and film of the same name.
http://manga.animea.net/battle-royale.html

The first two are manga that I would hope both Rollo T, and YRoT have both read. But just posting because they are very good, and hey, someone else hitting up the forum might get the idea to look into them as well.

Narrowing this down to one recommendation for simplicity: a seinen series called Change123. It has psychological aspects to it and some awesome martial arts, as well as occasional ecchi. It's complete too, so you can finish it in a week at a good pace, only 12 volumes.

Well, I doubt you'll read it

Well, I doubt you'll read it (I don't think its much to your taste, at least the first chapters)

But here goes, A Certain Scientific Railgun aka To aru Kagaku no Railgun.

Link ->http://www.mangareader.net/1080/to-aru-kagaku-no-choudenjibou.html<-

Spin off from A Certain Magical Index Light Novel series (though it's not required to read one to understand the other, both complement each other and give a bigger view of the setting) the manga is set in Academy City, located (conveniently enough) in Japan, where you have students enrolling in this futuristic city in order to become Espers. Espers are power users who use unique abilities unaccessible to normal people, and they are ranked using a Level system that goes from 0 to 5, where the lowest are unable to even use their powers, and the highest are revered as walking gods. In this city, where 2.3 million reside, there are only 7 Espers who have achieved the Level 5 rank. This manga follows the 3rd most powerful of them, Level 5 Mikoto Misaka, as she faces things like a certain protagonist from the main series, clones, strange cases of people falling into comas, more clones, more psycho's than a middle schooler should ever face, even more clones, other Level 5's who can be described as battle crazy, and did I mention there are clones?

There are also more light hearted stories involving making friends, lesbian teleporters, somewhat idiotic scientists, bombing attacks, someone getting injured saving a girl from said attack, and then hitting it off with her.

(Also clones)

So yeah, give a go, it's a monthly manga, published in a Sienen/Shonen magazine, 41 chapter so far (42 this month) and the last arc concluded on chapter 39, with a new one starting afterwards.

God of manga Tezuka

Since they supposedly just released a film version of Osamu Tezuka's Buddha, why not try the original manga... a fictionalization of the life of Buddha, though it is aimed more towards children ( it was originally made for younger kids so that Phoenix could get pushed to seinen ), and it's flipped ( which is something you will have to get used if you wanna read Tezuka manga ). I found it online though its missing chapter 53 and the last volume. It's most of the series so you should be able to give thoughts on it.

If you want to try Tezuka's more adult manga I'd Suggest:
Ode to Kirihito: http://www.mangafox.com/manga/eulogy_to_kirihito/
MW ( which was hugely inspirational to Urasawa's Monster ) ... though I can't find that one online.

JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE!

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, oh I recommend it so so much if you haven't read it.
It's an really old shonen (or seinen, but it ran in Shonen Jump) that started in 1987 and is still running, it starts as a simple, but well done brother rivalry between the the protagonist (Johnathan Jostar) and antagonist (Dio Brando) but as the series have gone on the style has changed.

Now the Manga is about 95 volumes long but the story is divided in different parts (there are 7 parts now) that always change characters and settings while keeping the overarching story to it. Each part also have a different style to it, the firs have horror elements, the second adventure, the third is more pure battle manga, the fourth is more a detective/school part and so on. So my suggestion would to at least read the three first parts for the show. Three parts is probably enough.

There are some reasons for my suggestion is that this manga is, like One Piece, a good example on how to keep a really long running manga fresh and still exiting to read. It's one of my all time favorites contending in the top three with One Piece and 20th Century Boy!

I hoe you guys take my recommendation, it's an manga that knows how to pull in readers, isn't afraid to pull heavy punches and turn the awesome meter up to 11!

Iris Zero
Basically in the main characters generation (they are in high school) kids started all being born with some kind of power in their eyes called an Iris; for example one can see when some one lies and one can see how long until someone dies. The lead however is an Iris Zero and has no power; because Iris Zero's are treated with contempt he has a policy of Zero Exposure where he just keeps his head down and doesn't draw attention to himself. Over the story he gets repeatedly drag into helping his friends with his amazing understanding of how people think.

It's an awesome manga with great visuals that challenges the ideas of what determines a person: nature or nurture. Plus it's only 68 chapters, so it's a fairly easy read.

!( !there is a bit of mature content at the beginning ! (just saying))!
* dark story
* plot twists
* very nice art style
* politics is an important part of the story
* the story involves the fate of a lot of people
* a lot of great fighting scenes

summary:
The main character is one of the heroes of the past that were accused of betraying the country by their fellows. He seeks revenge for the lives of the true heroes that these 'comrades' had taken and claimed all the glory of an important mission. The main character is only interested in the death of his targets but they are in control of a lot of power and so begins our hero's struggle against the whole political system with big consequences.

Recommendation

Before I give my recommendation I want to "second" a few of the ones already brought up.
The World Only God Knows- Suggested by Vincent_Cooper17
This is possibly my favorite manga next to One Piece, and if you remember(don't blame you if ya don't) but I recommended this to you on twitter under a similar username a while back, and would really like to hear your's and Nik's opinions on it. I await the day they bring it to America(I hope they do)
GE-Good Ending- Suggested by Vincent_Cooper17
I am a big sucker for simple high school romance manga, and as a guy...not ashamed at all to say that, while I have not caught up to the most recent chapter I enjoyed the ones I did read. Vincent was not kidding when he mentioned ups and downs though lots of drama in this one.
Deadman Wonderland-Suggested by Turretface
Another personal favorite here, own a few of the volumes. Love the idea behind the story and the story itself. On the gory side, but hey I can dig it, and I bet you would too, its why I am supporting this recommendation.
Defense Devil-Suggested by FFreak
Not much other than I picked this one up a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it.
Kurohime- Suggested by FFreak
This is another favorite of mine, and has the record for most depressing double panel I've seen, tied with any One Piece Death, and a manga called Area no Kishi.

Now for my own recommendation-

Enchanter

I've never read the manga of The World God Only Knows, but I loved the anime so I'm going to add my vote to that. I'd also like to add my vote to Deadman Wonderland.

I also have a suggestion of my own: Enchanter. I'm just going to quote the description on animeA because I'm lazy and I can't figure out how to word it myself: "Fulcanelli is an "Enchanter," an ancient engineer/alchemist who is able to imbue the weapons and gadgets he constructs with magical powers. Transformed into a demonic being after his death, he is always accompanied by his demon lover Eukanaria. Due to circumstances still unknown, he is in need of a new body. Until one can be found, Eukanaria must guard the pendant containing his soul from the many demonic forces that wish to obtain his great power for their own. In the present day, Haruhiko Kanou is an ordinary boy good with machines and nursing a crush on his science teacher and neighbor Yuki Fujiwara. Little does he know he is Fulcanelli's perfect double and Eukanaria has tracked him down..."

After chapter 15 or so there's a big gap on a lot of websites - unixmanga has all of it, and ecchi manga seems to have it too (not that it's all about the fanservice).

I really like this manga because every time I think "Eh, I don't really like where this is going" the next chapter tends to be very surprising and satisfying.

A rather original fantasy

A rather original fantasy manga (Manhwa, actually), is "Id". It's about a boy from an eastern fantasy like setting who is transported into a more Tolkien-esque fantasy setting, and becomes godly overpowered from chapter 1. It's unique in that the main character starts out extremely powerful, without him actually playing that up as much, and mostly never uses his full power. It's pretty funny too, of course.

A somewhat similar manga series is Superior - where the main character is a demon who killed half the planet's human population. She begins to travel with a guy who has sworn to kill her (and ONLY her), in order to make peace between humans and demons. It's only 30 chapters so far though, and it doesn't seem like it's going anywhere.

Pretty Face - Finished - 54

Pretty Face - Finished - 54 Chapters
http://www.mangareader.net/259/pretty-face.html

Just a brilliantly funny "gender-bender" manga.

"Randoh Masashi, a self-centered, brash karate star, was the victim of a horrific bus accident that left him comatose, his face terribly disfigured by extensive burns. Genius plastic surgeon Dr. Manabe saved Randoh's life and went to work on his face, gradually reconstructing it based on a photograph found in the wreckage of the bus. When Randoh wakes up from his coma, a year has passed, and Dr. Manabe has made remarkable progress. But in a cruel twist of fate, the photo that the doctor used as his reference was not a picture of Randoh, but of Rina Kurimi, the girl whom Randoh has a crush on!"

Manga Suggestion

1. +C: SWORD AND CORNETT
a Josei manga

The Story: Belca Noctircus is the son of a commoner and the King Noctircus. He is the third prince in the royal Noctircus family and is third in line for the throne. Soon after coming back from abroad, his brother, the crown prince Hector Noctircus, revealed his ambition to create peace with the Amonel (a race considered to be monsters); but mysteriously, he dies from a mystery's disease. Belca and his second older brother, Orcelito, discovered the conspiracy behind Hector's death, and Belca was nearly killed because of that. However, he was saved by a wandering bard/scholar named Eco, who agreed to help Belca out, but is Eco really who he seems to be? (Sorry for being lazy but this part of the summary I thought did a better job of telling what the story's about than how I could tell it. )

2. UBEL BLATT
Don't really need to add to what hasn't already been said on this Thread however I would like to point out that this manga in its beginning was a Hentai Fantasy manga for the first few chapters but it quickly sheds this skin for the better (to me anyway) for a much deeper story (can't really say much more other than I'll let you be the judge if you ever read it)

Hello Rollo-T, and YRoT, I

Hello Rollo-T, and YRoT,
I wanted to share a few manga that I found that I think you would like, and that hasn't already been posted.
1. Name: After School Nightmare
Link: http://www.mangafox.com/manga/after_school_nightmare/
Description: Now I don't want to give too much away, but the story is that Ichijo Mashiro a half man/ half women high schooler is one day approached by a school nurse. This nurse then directs him to the basement where in order for him to graduate he must pass the class. The class has him and his fellow classmates must fight each other in a dream world.

2. Name: OTAKU NO MUSUME-SAN
Link: http://www.mangafox.com/manga/otaku_no_musume_san/
Description: This one has a weird art style (eyebrows, you'll know what I mean). It's a simple story of a 27 year old otaku named Kouta who one day comes home to find that he has 9 year old daughter, who has come to live with him. The stories from their is there moments together, a few dramatic moments, as well as few tear jerkers.

3. Name: Onani Master kurosawi
Link: http://www.mangafox.com/manga/onani_master_kurosawa/
Description: This story is about kurosawi and his specialty which is masturbation.. Now this is not a hentai, its very close, but its not. Its a story how he grows up, and deals with his masturbation thing.

I hope it gives you something to read for Weekly Manga Recap.

Dear Rollo-T and Dear Y Ruler

Dear Rollo-T and Dear Y Ruler of Time,

feel empowered by the fact that I made this account purely for the reason of subscribing a suggestion for a manga (as the title of the Thread already suggests) ... although, now that I made it, I am probably going to use it for other mischievous shenanigans.

But back to topic, the manga suggestion. While I am very sure in guessing correctly when I say that Mr. Freeman (implement G-Man voice) has not yet read it, I am not so sure, if Chris already heard about this manga. It is called 'Hokenshitsu no Shinigami' - or, in english, 'The Deatghod of the Infirmary'.

http://www.mangafox.com/manga/hokenshitsu_no_shinigami/

The plot itself is - as with most Shounen-Mangas - fairly simplistic: Itsuhito Hades (just roll with the family name) is the new Infirmary teacher of Tokofushi Middle School. Because of his frightening (or more like creepy) exterior, however, students ... shall we say refrain from visiting the infirmary.
The Main Character of the manga (I guess he is it ... I'm not really sure), Iku Ashitaba is therefore not enthusiastic of going in the Infirmary, when he cuts himself during a lesson (and not a suicide cut, a gash) yet goes, accompanied by his yet-to-become-friends, Rentaro Mimasaka and Rokusuke Fuji.
Soon they find out that Hades-Senseis character does not fit his appearance but that is not all: they also become aware of the existence of byouma, so-called disease demons, which exploit the mental weaknesses an inner instabilities of their victims to feed on their ... heart or soul or life energy or something like that. The Manga explains it better. As is usual, the three are cornered in a very dangerous situation in the first chapter (Don't act like I spoiled it, it happens in every fricking first chapter of a shounen-manga), until Hades-Sensei rescues them and destroys/banishes the Disease Demon. From there on out, the three spend most of their free time in the Infirmary during school and get more and more caught up in Hades-Senseis fight against the Disease Demons (major villains have yet to appear... ).

Up until now, 42 Chapters of the manga have been translated as I write this Comment and I must admit - I like this manga. I daresay I even love it. While maybe not completely re-inventing the wheel, it has some unique and interesting ideas and for a change, adult characters are accounted for as major characters and good guys in a shounen-manga. Iku Ashitaba, through whose perspective we are mostly experiencing the story, is also not a completely usual main character. In fact, he is unusual in that he is usual. He is neither mentally scared or has a complex family background (at least I believe so, there has been no complete instruction of his family so far), he is just a normal student. Yet at situations of crisis, he displays a rather cool head and logical thinking and while not playing hero or just charging in a dangerous situation without thinking, he does not run away either. He just sticks to that which he can do and does not stand in the way when it's Hades' turn to banish the Disease Demon. Hades himself is also rather interesting. He is a loving teacher who would like nothing more than being very close with the students, which is sadly prevented through his creepy exterior (for which a good reason exists and is explained in the manga!) and his sometimes shy demeanor can ihm easily give him the vibe of a sociopath. Yet, when a job needs to be done, he can stand up and shows great determination to pull through and do his job. He is also the one with a mysterious background (At least one of the characters had to) and the relationship between him and Ashitaba is the usual teacher-student-relationship in school, although Ashitaba seems to be the one that can understand Hades the best (god, I'm feeling stupid for writing this name so many times. Why not just give him the second name 'DA DEVYL' to make it more subtle?) and Hades' supervisor in his hunt for Disease Demons expresses several times her amazement towards Ashitabas logical thinking and inference capability.

But I should shut up now. There are tons of other characters in this series and as far as I can tell all of them are well developed and it's fun to see them bounce off each other. I suggest you give it a read, whenever you are in the mood for some good ol' shounen adventures ;)
With greetings from the Northpole,
Der_Icebear

My suggestion...

For my suggestion, I suggest Akumetsu. Akumetsu is a shonen, though I would say it's a seinen with how violent it could get, that is about one man's attempt to reform Japan's economy and legislation...by going after the people that consciously screw over Japan's citizens. He kills them and then himself, while having a code that prevents every else involve from dying...and he does it again and again and again. As the story goes, you find out why he's doing this, what his main goal is, and how he's able to kill himself and the target numerous times. The beginning is fast pace, while it slows down a bit in the middle as they explain Japan's situation, the companies, the people, and sometimes unneeded backstory but still keeps you interested, then ends on a surprising note.

Here's my picks for this week

Here's my picks for this week for ya Chris and Nick. This one is full of sports manga goodness.

First up is the one you told me to post on here to begin with and thats Ookiku Furikabutte

http://www.mangafox.com/manga/ookiku_furikabutte/

As I told you a bit before this is a more realistic style of a sports manga and it's actually gotten a new chapter out. It's release dates are kinda all over the place...i mean the new chapter came out on the 18th of june but before that the last chapter was in December 2010...so it's kinda all over the place. Anyways if you're a fan of the slice of life genre and sports as well, I say this is definetly a good choice.

Next up is another Slice of Life Realistic Sports manga called Cross Game.

http://www.mangavolume.com/serie-archive/mangas-cross-game/npage-3

Cross Game is another baseball anime that actually tugs at you're heart strings from early on. I don't really want to spoil it by saying anymore but let's just say that someone close to the main character dies and it changes relationships and gives people determinations from said person's wishes. This is a great baseball anime up there with Ookiku Furikabutte and is a a must read for the realist sports manga fan.

NEXT! Prince of Tennis. There should be much to say about this other than Hadouken.

http://www.mangafox.com/manga/prince_of_tennis/

This is prolly one of my favorite over the top sports anime's. It's the story of a boy named Ryoma Echizen who is considered to be a young tennis prodigy and is actually called at one point by someone to be a prince. This series has finished awhile ago but has recently started up a new series called, get this, NEW Prince of Tennis, which basically takes off from where they last left off in the series. Other than that, this is a definetly a must read among the "DBZ Sports"

And finally we have Smash! A realistic sports anime about the worlds greatest intermural sport in high school...badminton.

http://www.mangareader.net/432/smash.html

This is a story about a boy name Shouta who enjoys playing badminton with his childhood friend Miwa. While playing Miwa ask's if Shouta would ever get serious about playing to which he shrugs off. He then runs into a girl named Yuuhi and they play only to have be completely defeaten by the girl he just met. Afterwards Shouta vows to be able to play better to be able to meet with Yuuhi again, but there are somethings that he doesn't know about her and her past.

That's it for this time, enjoy the reading boys!

Getter Robo

This is a manga I want to recommend to Y Ruler since he is a Gurren Lagann fan. This is Getter Robo http://www.tenmanga.com/book/Getter+Robo.html, a really, REALLY old 1970's giant robot manga about a group of badass mecha pilots called Ryoma Nagare, a hot-blooded martial artist; Hayato Jin, once a crazy anarchist, now a calm cool collected combat tactician and Musashi Tomoe a portly, mountain-dwelling powerhouse led by a badass scientist named Saotome. The three pilot the Getter Robo (a transformer which is three jets that combine into one mecha) to combat against the Reptiloid Empire led by Emperor Gore which are basically giant Cyborg Dinosaurs who wish to conquer the world. This series is what inspired Gurren Lagann, even it's not nearly as over the top it's still pretty insanely awesome I.e. Getter Robo uses Tomahawks to cut down dozens of Giant Cyborg Dinosaurs..

How bout some Korean manga?

Uh hey, I reccomend this Martial Arts manhwa(manga in korea)- The Breaker. It's a different sort of shounen manga that I'll think you'll both enjoy. Here is the official summary: A new HR teacher, Chun-woo is a nothing ordinary with his wily ambitions and neglect of a bullied boy, Shin-woo. However, after unexpectedly witnessing his great power, Shin-woo begs him to learn it. They could start their lesson only after Shin-woo throws his body into deep river to prove his will. However, Shin-woo did not know his master is stronger than he can imagine. He was a killer with mastery of nine martial arts who was hiding himself after a big mission!--- http://www.mangareader.net/530/the-breaker.html ---Hope you enjoy.
