What can you contribute to the game? As asked on live.lordkat.com
I can make up stories, write dialogue and come up with some jokes. I'm a somewhat skilled writer, I think. Admittedly, I have no writing credits to speak of. At the very least, I can edit and improve the writing submitted. I'm almost better at improving writing than I am originating it.
We could play as the monsters?
I can make 3d models, animations, textures, rig and the like.
However, if it's going to be a 2d game, that limits it to pre-rendered sprites I guess.
I can contribute music, only it's nothing impressive.
I have a good amount of programming knowledge. My main language is Java, and a bit of C++ but I always want to learn new languages. I would love to help in any way I can whether it's the actual code or even coming up with ideas.
My programming related skills are as following.
Rusty C, C++, C#, Java and Pascal skills, a few hours every week.
I've got a lot of experience in debugging and Object-oriented design.
That's about it, let me know whether or not such skills would help.
I can make up class and/or character designs, as well as skills regarding with that.
I am also skilled in creating nations/towns and write up history for these countries.
Hey Lk :)
I can help designing maps, balancing issues and everything else RPG related.
I have about 20 years experience in designing (Pen & Paper) RPGs and DMing, so I can and would love to help in anything design related which doesnt need any programming skills, since i have no clue about that :)
I have also extensive experience in writing fluff for a game world.
Dunno if any of this sounds interesting, but if you think I could be of help, I am here :)
I am very good at writing stories and creating content. Also, at the moment, i am creating my own fantasy pen and paper RPG game with my own gaming system.
As the one above, I am pretty good at making up stories, especially if I have someone to talk to and work with. I have the most experince with fantasy tales, since I've worked with people to make up background and ongoing stories on a few play-by-post forums, and I generally improvise my roleplaying adventures when my group comes together, so I am able to improvise on the spot if need be.
Same as Option. I play an MMORPG with 14 classes - I've got a wealth of ideas as per class ideas and class skill options.
Here's an idea for the class system:
Every skill can be trained by every class, so you're not limited to certain skills. However, every class gives starting bonuses to certain skills (a Monk class would have Martial Arts as a primary skill, Dodge and Speed secondary for example). If a class has it trained as a primary skill, you can increase it more per level, and secondary more than an "untrained" skill. It's kinda hard to explain, but if you need clarity lemme know.
Also, as apparently you're going with more of an Ultima style game, go ahead and poke me if you want me to help in any other way than classes and things.
How about a character who is an ex theif/pirate/assassin who quit but the bad guy killed his son and wife forcing him to join the party to take revenge, and as the game goes on he slowly goes insane from the loss of his loved ones, ending with him sacrificing himself to kill the villain.
I know there’s going to be a lot of people who respond with Photoshop skill, but still I’m goanna post that I have Photoshop skills too. If it also help am “Certified” by adobe, but that was a year ago. I just wanted to see if I could help out, trying to see if I can get into some part of game development but I’ve never been in an actual game project. Whether you pick me to help out or not, I hope the game turn out well. Good luck! ^_^
My Head is full of ideas, and I think flexably,
Ideas from setting a stage for Plot, other charicters and I got a few side quest ideas,
If i could Contribute something it be my call to knowlege and offering to share a few of my thoughts.
I can do pixel art, like sprites if thats any help to you. what type of RPG Style game are you making?
I'm pretty good at general programming and developing algorithms and networking systems ... So if you still need help with that, I'd be happy to help out.
I can come up with enemies, and a friend of mine can draw them for me, and then I would help with that. I also have a concept for this game, I think it should be and RPG that takes place in a futuristic setting with laser guns and energy swords. And also having the option to choose if you want it be real time or turn based, and it should have co-op.
I can always help out by testing.
Hey, remember those robotic spiders with brains on top of them from Doom? I figured that the game can have a creature that is a brain with legs, resembling that Doom enemy i just mentioned, and if it kills you, your head explodes and your brain turns into one of them. It's not a finished idea yet, but it's been 5 minutes, so I haven't brainstormed yet.
I can support you with some art here and there if needed (no pixel art sry ;( )
First is a sketch which I made just for fun and the second is a bit trying out a new brush type

As said earlier - and since the system is kindasorta forming: I still can help with creating skills and skill combinations, I'm really creative in that sort of stuff. :3
"I can make 3d models, animations, textures, rig and the like.
However, if it's going to be a 2d game, that limits it to pre-rendered sprites I guess. "
Oh, and 3d art.
With texturing skills comes some photoshop skills of course, where I can for example make pixel art if needed.
(I'm both self learned and a year at a 3d movie and game development school. Now currently attending the second year in game design)
As for credits, I haven't really done anything special other than some modding, image renders and a some UDK experimenting.
Due to modding I also have some minor scripting skills.
Basically, I should be able to tell how a new scripting language works (depending on the language of course) and get experimenting and learning it rather quickly.
I'll be glad to post some images of stuff I have made if asked.
(Dunno if I should have edited the first post instead or not, but oh well.)
Ok, not to post 5000 replys here, I'm gonna create basic concepts fora few creatures and then I'm gonna post them all the the same time.
Have achievements!
Sadly I have absolutly no idea how to code or anything along those lines, but I'd happily help you write the story or help come up with characters, enemys, towns and quests or anything along those lines, and just help in anyway i can.
I fancy myself a writer of some merit. I would be happy to lend my services and ideas wherever they are needed. I haven't been published yet, by a reputable business, and I am only entering college. However, I have been known to provide most invaluable insights and ideas. Regarding available works on the internet, I have posted a few pieces on thatguywiththeglasses' blogs under the name of ThePhantom, for which I have received interesting feedback and criticisms (the comments, although, since lost due to the recent design changes of the blogs). I have prepared multiple story ideas in genres in horror, science fiction, and fantasy, of course, in addition to a fantasy story with the overarching frame of scientific events recorded a few years ago involving the creation of a universe. I believe this one, in particular, to be of greatest interest.

as a boss, we can have a giant monster that looks like a part octopuss part horse part man monster.
a fire eagle, it looks like a Phoenix, but it's bigger and it doesn't get reborn from it's ashes
a race of wate-orcs, they look like fishman, but they are much less advanced than the regular fishman you see on rpg's now at days
A secret group of jesters wich are actually killers, but not like in ultima, these ones are actually tactical geniuses that are masters of deception (kinda like ninjas, but the problem is that if you see a ninja inside your kings catle, you are gonna kill him, but with a jester, there is the chance you're stabbing the kings favorite entertainer)
TOMMY WISEAU!!! (Just Kidding)
Undead Elves would be cool.
Devilish mages that weat black at all times and summon demons
I know that a lot of these ideas are pretty stock, but we can still develop them.
I can write fairly decently.
Over the last Seven years, I've developed my own Fictional Universe, complete with varied and unique Characters, Villains, Places that have their own fully developed Past, Present and Futures, Weapons, Vehicles, etc, etc...
I've also adapted it into several various forms, such as; a novel manuscript, a video game series script, a TV Series script, and most recently as a Comic Book.
Well, I'm actually currently attending (or will be, in a few weeks) a university in order to learn coding and it's aspects and such. As of right now I know how to code in Java, and am willing to go ahead and try to learn the language your currently using. If I recall from your previous statement, it's roughly the same, except there are a few kinks like not having solid types, like ints can be strings and such like that.
Willing to help out on the coding aspect off and on, variable on my course schedule and such, which I don't have ironed out and won't for a few weeks.
(for reference, this is FordR, I created this account forever ago and used my TGWTG username)
I think I could contribute some ideas to the skills, weapons, creatures, different civilizations. All and all I have alot of small ideas to make game have depth
I'm get my influence from greek/norse mythology and old civilizations (i like history).
Small example, weapon upsides, and down sides:
One Handed Swords: Upsides: Nimble, fast and accurate to use, good for parrying attacks.
Downsides: Less than average damage, hard to inflict damage to heavily armored (like knight with full plate armor) enemy due to light structure of the sword.
One Handed Axes: Upsides: More than average damage, greater chance to break enemy shields
Downsides: Slightly less than average parrying, average accuracy
and so on. I have ALOT more ideas like these.
electric monsters, wich are basicly raw electricity, like the second form of electro in the end of the spider-man 2 enter electro game on PS1 (look for it in google images if you don't understand it)
a green poisonous dragon or something similar
a big bat with a chacal's head
ok, this one is really random: turtle made of rock
THE GRASS (again, just kidding)
do you remember that oroboros creature from re5, i thought of magic monster that looks like it amd is made of maybe enchanted mud or oil
damn i'm fast at this
Just a thought for a quest. Old farmer Walken's Cow's Cowbells have been stolen by Bandit Gnomes and you have to go kick their ass for 45g and some soup.
Oh yeah guys idea for a ranged weapon: Flaming Bed Rolls

Anything really mudane and repetitious I can do.
I just draw a possible enemy that is a skull that has a snakes body and bat kind wings, but because my scanner is not connected to a computer right now, and I don't feel like connecting it at 01AM so I'm going to link the picture later.
Just dropping this idea here.
Meh, well, I can do mundane and boring programming tasks...not that versed in Lua, but meh....
I can draw some of the monsters! (I'm not good at pixelart, sorry!)
Here is one monster idea:

I can help with the Software Architecture, Coding, Test - Cases ... Software Engineering in general ^_^
For all aspiring software engineers / code monkeys, there's a lot of code-related info at the bottom of the TODO page on the wiki now, so there's something to think about.
If you feel inspired to comment after reading that stuff, just make a new topic in the forums right here.
I can contribute music. Many people have said that I'm good at videogame music. Here's a link to a videogame-like song I made. http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/358594
Humm what could I contribute, I am pretty skilled with desktop publishing so I could do stuff like designing placement of things in the interface and menu design. for instance designing a prototype for how the menu would look figuring out what the best ergonomic design oudl be for the battle screen and how Damage etc would be displayed on hits.
I could also help with dialogue and Overall story and weapon ideas. In addition I'm pretty good at designing the stats of items in a d20 based systemt9o make them balanced for a given level they are expected to be used at.
I can write scenarios (I'm sure you have an idea of what you'd like the main story to be anyway) and help create some unconventional character classes/spells/etc. Oh, and once the game gets going, I can help with 3d modeling.
My writing skills can be a good contribution, it can make the stories more realistic, more detailed, or I can generate scenarios for you to use, complete with maps and respected languages and things.
Able and willing to contribute in coding and debugging. Has 2 years experience with C# and The XNA-Framework.
@reemiip
LK and wmat use LUA for making it.
Hope you know something in that (script) language ;)
If you want to help try to get in contact with wmat - I dunno when he shows up in the chat again ;(
Some audio work, most likely.
I wouldn't mind doing voicework if it's going to be in the RPG as well as story ideas.
